Market Days
On Market days (Tuesdays), until the beginning of the 20th Century, this large expanse would be filled with cattle and sheep pens. After this time, covered stalls would be erected each Tuesday and Thursday to form Harborough's Retail Market, until 1938 when the first market hall was erected off Northampton Road. Today, it is only the newly formed Farmer's Market each first Thursday in the month that sees the stalls set out around the square once more.

The War Memorial which is made of Clipsham stone, was erected around 1921. Inscribed on the Memorial are the names of those lost in the Great War 1914 - 1918. Just to the left of the memorial is the entrance to the Remembrance gardens.
