The ugly gargoyles!

Catherwood House Lloyds Bank Building

Catherwood House was built in the Gothic style by former Robert Smyth School pupil, William Bragg in 1876. It currently is a Café Nero, but for many years was owned by Lloyds Bank. This building situated on the Square is full of character. The carved stone across the front of the building is terminated at each end by a pair of ugly gargoyles. (shown left).
