09/01/01 Harborough witnesses the first lunar eclipse of the millennium.
The first Lunar eclipse of the millennium came in spectacular fashion, reducing the moon to a dark red ball in the early evening sky. We were however, denied the second stage of the total eclipse, as increasing low cloud and mist swallowed up the spectacle.
These pictures were taken of the actual event, shot originally with a digital camcorder, then transferred to computer with the aid of a digital capture card.
The first image shows the moon around 6.30pm, just before the event, and the second at 6.45pm when the earth's shadow started to creep across it's surface. The last image (bottom right) was taken at totality, 7.50pm,
