27/03/99 Proposed Sculpture Exhibition. |
| A sculpture of a sundial is to be erected on a
cobbled jetty at the Northeast corner of the Harborough's Canal basin at
a cost of £15,000. It is to be chosen from three designs already
put forward. On Saturday March 27th 1999, models of these were exhibited in the Council Chambers, where the public were allowed to vote for which sculpture they preferred. One design is to be cut from steel plate, and depicts the sun and stays like those used in Symington's corsets. Another will be aluminium and in the shape of a boat rudder. The third is to made of a mixture of wood and steel, and will depict a man holding a plank of wood to the ground at a 40 degree angle. |
