Wall under construction

The picture below shows how the surface was badly cracking before renovation, whilst the one above gives some idea of how the walls were constructed.

The park consists of a downhill run, with high banks and a 360° turn at the bottom. Also at the bottom is an eight foot high section (formerly known as 'The Wall') terminating with a vertical surface at the top.

Little Bowden Skateboard Park

Skateboard Park, Little Bowden

The young people of Market Harborough are lucky enough to have their very own skateboard park hidden away on the outskirts of the town. Despite it's obscure position, tucked away in the corner of a small recreation ground in Little Bowden, the facility is well used, even on a cold January day when the picture above was taken. The picture shows it as it is now, after having undergone renovations in June 1999.

How to get there.
The Skateboard park is accessed via a small lane opposite the railway line, at the entrance to Bellfields Street, Little Bowden.

New Skatepark
Harborough District Council had plans to build a new skateboard park in a more central position in Welland Park, but sadly, the idea was abandoned and the £10,000 earmarked for the project reallocated to general recreational funds. However, by the turn of the century, the project did come to fruition, and the new Skatepark can be found next to Welland Park.
