The Munt

The Munt. The Munt is a mysterious mound of earth which is situated alongside a footpath between Main Street and the A6 on the North side of the village. No one quite knows it's origins, but it's large enough to be the base for a small castle or fort, with	The Munt at Kibworth Harcourt.
The Mount at Gumley.	what would appear to be a moat round it's circumference. Another theory is that it was at one time an ancient burial ground. Just a few miles away at Gumley, is another such mound which is also surrounded in mystery, and bears an uncanny resemblance to the one at Kibworth. Some time around 1950, a group of archaeologists thought it to be a burial ground and made a dig, but came up with no evidence to support such a theory.
